Chelsea have had to go back to the drawing board in their search for a new forward this summer after Romelu Lukaku snubbed a Stamford Bridge return for Manchester United.

The Blues are believed to be closing in on signing Lazio attacker Balde Keita this summer, and the bookies odds reflect this as Sky Bet list Chelsea as 3/1 favourites to sign the Senegal international.

Keita has emerged as one of Serie A’s finest young forwards since arriving at Lazio from Barcelona, scoring 16 goals in 31 League games last season.

Chelsea have been linked with a £17m move for the 22-year-old attacker this summer. Both Liverpool and Juventus appear to be well-fancied by the bookies and are in the race to sign Keita.

Despite playing primarily off the left wing, Keita can play through the middle, offering Chelsea another versatile option in attack should they press ahead with a move to sign the player.
